About Me Hello Everyone, My name is Gwen Reid. I am the owner and career specialist of Future Visions Consulting. The desire to establish my own career consulting company came to life in 2002 after graduating from the Career and Work Counsellor Program at George Brown College three years prior. I have always known becoming self-employed was something I wanted to accomplish both for personal and financial reasons. The process of creating my business has taken some time, due to the extensive work I have done in the career counseling field. I wanted to give myself a chance to gain some diverse experience, and to develop my network of contacts and my pool of resources. I’ve reached my goal with the launch of Future Visions Consulting. I am a firm believer that everyone is capable of setting and reaching their goals. I would like the opportunity to share my skills, abilities and experience with you, in order to illustrate how we can work collaboratively to achieve your personal and professional goals. While working in the career counseling field I assisted clients with career and educational directions, job-search and other related job issues. My clients belonged to diverse communities. They were foreign trained professionals, new immigrants, people living with various disabilities, youth, and mature workers. I have also worked as a facilitator/trainer for more than six years. Training women and providing them with support and resources is my primary role. I also train their service providers on disability awareness, and give them information in regards to anti-abuse. Accessibility audits are implemented with my participation as part of a team. These audits provide non-profit agencies feedback on physical access, administrative access, and systemic access. The information gained, helps organizations provide services for clients who are living with various disabilities and are using their services. The goal of Future Visions Consulting is to empower people to see their own freedoms, and to fulfill their career and personal goals. I have a wide variety of skills and experience to draw from. I will help individuals to achieve their goals within a reasonable time-frame, using contacts and resources that I have aquired. |
